Harness the power of Daylight. Solar generated electricity

In 1967 Dave and Jill Murton established Daylight Norfolk Company. Originally a lighting manufacturer in Norwich the business soon developed into electrical contracting in the domestic and retail markets. Darren Murton, Dave and Jill′s son, joined the family firm as an apprentice and today after completing over twenty years on the tools now runs the company with his business partner Mark Caton who joined in February 2007. Mark together with Darren manages the day to day requirements a small business generates as well as managing contracts and working full time on the tools. Daniel Murton now the third generation and being fully qualified is working full time as an electrician.

In the last forty years the electrical industry has seen many changes and Daylight Norfolk Company has been there all the way. Changes to regulations and the introduction in 2005 of Part P of the building regulations have meant that Daylight Norfolk Company continues to develop within the industry.

The market place has also changed in forty years. In our early days a domestic installation was sparse to say the least. Todays home is one of technology and media. Intruder alarms, CCTV, home entertainment systems, broadband links and multimedia centres are now common place. Having an Electrical contractor who knows the in′s and out′s of such technology is paramount and Daylight Norfolk Company is best suited to this environment. An electricians′ knowledge is not just about sockets and switches any more.

In 2005 DNC successfully became an approved contractor with the NICEIC as well as a Domestic Installer. The NICEIC is the electrical contracting industry’s independent voluntary regulatory body for electrical installation safety matters throughout the UK. It maintains and publishes registers of electrical contractors that have been assessed against scheme requirements, including the national electrical safety standard BS 7671, the IEE Wiring Regulations.

In July 2008 the 17th edition of the IEE wiring regulations came into full effect. DNC is fully committed to producing electrical installations compliant to these standards. New consumer units have been introduced to allow compliance to the 17th allowing more RCD protection to an installation. We will be happy to discuss how these changes could affect your future electrical installation.

Several projects involve other trades. DNC is happy to work alongside all other contractors and tradesmen. We also work in conjunction with other companies and trades persons including, Plumbers & Heating engineers on oil and gas installations, Carpenters, Kitchen and Bathroom fitters, Swimming pool installers, Window and conservatory installers and Builders. We only promote people we have worked with before over a number of years and who too can produce the high quality of work we would expect. Contact details can be provided for all of the above.

Most works initially involve a site survey to discuss your exact requirements and examine the existing installation. All surveys are totally free of charge and can be arranged for during the day, an early evening or even on a Saturday.  Once the proposed project has been surveyed we will provide you with a written fixed price quotation or estimate depending on the information received.
